Today was one of those days when giving my time felt like the least I could do. It was the second time I’ve volunteered on Seth Godin‘s very cool Road Trip, and schlepping boxes, orienting other volunteers, collecting tickets, and setting up lunch never feels like anything close to work.
I give my time, energy, and art to Seth not because I’m expecting anything in return, but because he has already given me something – a gift – for which he expects no payment. His gift to me is that what he says and the thinking that he triggers in me have given me a way to walk through the world differently.
That difference may be just a slight change in my world view, but it is enough of a difference to dramatically change the trajectory of my life over time.
