It’s not often that I listen to the radio without cringing at at least some of lyrics of the majority of the new songs being played. It’s not that I can’t handle the lewdness. It’s that every time I hear a song, I think about a young girl or boy listening. I think about them singing along with lyrics that talk about body parts, bedrooms, and strip clubs.
Needless to say, when I first heard Bruno Mars’ song “Just the Way You Are” I kept waiting for him to screw it up, to switch to some overly sexualized lyrics – something about a butt or boobs or wanting to jump into bed with the girl he’s singing about. But nope. He kept it a song that I would happily play in front of a group of young girls who every day are made to feel unamazing by the unrealistic media images they are faced with.
Thanks Bruno Mars for giving the girls we care about something good to listen to.

If we were FB friends you would get a big fat “LIKE” on this post! Love the song …reminds me of the old school hip-hop, pop and R&B that I used to adore…..
